Sakura Gumi (3-5 years old)

 

Physical Development

We encourage children to continue to investigate and discover both inside and outside by providing a good balance of playing and ensuring that they are doing so in a safe atmosphere. They enhance their gross motor abilities and hand-eye coordination as a result of this activity.

 

Cognitive Development

In English & Japanese we will help them learn to count, use a tubbing system, sorting, grouping, adding and subtracting. Science & Nature will be explored with hands on activities, experiments and visual aides to demonstrate how their world works. Blocks, manipulatives, puzzles and many games are utilized.

 

 Language & Speech

Throughout the day we introduce them to Japanese and English speech and language.  We not only assist with early literacy in English, but we also do so in Japanese. The resources used include literacy materials, songs, rhyming, Japanese folklore, books, word games, Japanese instructional programs, and animations. As a result of being exposed to a range of daily read-alouds and dialogues, children develop a wide vocabulary, allowing them to begin laying a solid foundation in language and communication.

 

Socialization

Participation in large, medium and small group sizes. Children learn to develop skills of solving problems on their own and with others.
